Today, as he unveiled a new school funding formula proposal for New Jersey, State Senator Mike Doherty mentioned that he would be doing town hall meetings throughout the state to drum up support.

Many state legislators looking to step up to the national scene see well-publicized town halls as a good way to go. Doherty was asked if this means he's planning to challenge incumbent U.S. Senator Bob Menendez in 2012.

"No," laughed Doherty, "but I am running for State Senate re-election."

He later said, "My politcs and policies are better than Bob Menendez's."

Stay tuned.
