NO CHRISTIE SPEECH AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Every year, the New Jersey State League of Municipalities hosts a multi-day conference in Atlantic City. Hundreds of elected officials at every level of government turnout for workshops, seminars and networking.

Typically the highlight comes when the Governor addresses the League at its Thursday luncheon. Cabinet members, Senators and Assembly members are paraded in one-by-one after grand introductions and they take their spots on the two-tiered dais.

This year, Governor Chris Christie, a rising national Republican star will not be on hand to give the speech. Christie is known for his rousing speeches and many insiders are disppointed that he will not be addressing the crowd.

As it stands now, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno will be giving the speech instead. This will be Guadagno's first high-profile address as New Jersey's second in command and it could be a defining moment because the press always covers the event thoroughly and the speech is traditonally a big newsmaking event.
