BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN WRITING BALLOT QUESTIONS FOR NJ’S SENATE PREZ

Yesterday New Jersey voters approved a ballot measure to bar lawmakers from raiding state workers' benefit funds. The constitutional amendment was the only statewide ballot question. There was no organized opposition to the measure, which would end a common practice in the state.

State Senate President Steve Sweeney was one of the sponsors of the measure. He admits he was very worried that it would fail because it was so difficult to understand as a ballot question.

Click on the link below to hear Sweeney's thoughts on the passage of the constitutional amendment. It's only :42 seconds long so stay with it until the very end when Sweeney suggests a very radical punishment for the person or persons who authored the explanation voters read when they stepped into the booth.
