CHRISTIE’S EDUCATION REFORM PLANS

At 3pm today, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is scheduled to unveil his education reform initiatives. Sources tell us they will include prohibiting raises based solely on seniority and banning graduate degree accumulation as the lone basis for raises.

Christie is also expected to convene the Task Force on Teacher Effectiveness to develop a system that elevates the role of student learning in evaluation and transparently assesses a teacher's performance.

The Governor's reform agenda will also create greater accountability in New Jersey's schools by empowering parents with access to data including student achievement in the classroom and teacher evaluations.
