A planned trans-Hudson rail tunnel known as the Access to the Region's Core or ARC Tunnel is now officially dead. Citing cost overruns of possibly $5 billion dollars, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie today killed the nation's largest public works project.
In a lengthy and open press conference Christie explained that the state simply doesn't have the money for the project and he refuses to saddle New Jersey taxpaters with even more debt.
Proving that he's almost always quick on his feet, Christie comically deflected a question about New York's refusal to help foot much of the ARC Tunnel bill.
Go to youtube.com and enter "Governor Christie: Live Free or Die." It's very short, less than two minutes, but worth it.
Also, Christie will be appearing on Millennium Radio's monthly "Ask the Governor" program tonight from 7pm-8pm EST. You can call in and personally ask Christie a question. 1-800-283-1015. You can also watch and listen live at nj1015.com.
