JADEN'S BILL

Jaden’s bill, The bill (S-2038) would require the Department of Health and Senior Services in New Jersey to construct an booklet online about bone marrow and blood stem cell donations, based on information from the National Marrow Donor Program.

This bill, which was approved in Committee on Monday, was passed by the full senate on Thursday. It now awaits the governor’s signature to become full law. 3-year-old Jaden Hilton died because he was unable to find a bone marrow match. Because of his tragic death a bill was sponsored to have a registration for donor and raise awareness on the issue. The senate and assembly both passed the bill into law and it is awaiting the governor’s signature.

The bill’s co- sponsor State Senator Teresa Ruiz says , “ It’s a bill that is just advocating public awareness.” because “it could be one match that saves a person’s life.”
